The Designer Behind It

Officially since 2023, Alik Megerditchian, the founder and designer of Human Dimension Design, has been proudly offering her professional services to both residential and small commercial clients, as well as other professionals in the field, fostering collaboration and innovation within the industry. With a keen eye for technical details and a passion for creating harmonious spaces, she transforms environments into reflections of her clients' unique personalities and needs.

‘‘To me, clients aren't just clients; it’s truly a partnership and I need them to be part of this process when need be. I insist that they be transparent and comfortable to ask questions as much as they want, understanding and confidence is key here in my opinion. Also, I am here for them, I am like their advocate if I may, and I will always do my best to make sure that they get what they envisioned for so long.’’

Why ‘Human’ Dimension Design

The name 'Human Dimension Design' was inspired by the influential work 'Human Dimension and Interior Space' by Julius Panero & Martin Zelnik (1979), a cornerstone in the field of interior design. At the heart of our planning skills lies the importance and application of ergonomics, ensuring that every design is both functional and comfortable while being aesthetic.

‘‘During my three years of studying interior design, the part that always kept me the most excited was when I had a sort of blank canvas (space) and I had to assemble this puzzle (layout) out of all the wants and necessities. It was always my favorite challenge: how to make it fit while optimizing the space, keeping it ergonomic, and keeping that first impression (wow) effect in every angle as much as possible.’’ - A.M.

At Human Dimension Design, we place great importance on building strong relationships with our clients. We believe that good chemistry is essential, and we strive to make our clients feel at ease from the very first meeting. Our clients deserve a genuine relationship and approach, not that we know how to do otherwise; and after all they are trusting our expertise fully with all major and minor design elements!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • An interior designer is a professional that helps clients, architects, contractors, and even custom item artisans by providing instructions and ideas in the form of plans, 3Ds, material selection and so much more.

  • The short answer is : no.

More specifically, when a project is in the works, an interior designer will be the right professional to help you know what is required for this project to come to realization and to properly bring your vision to life. For example, permits, further exploration with an engineer or architect, the right suppliers, etc. Having a designer can sound luxurious, but that is because the profession has only started to really have it’s place in the construction world around the 1990s .

Realistically and honestly, an interior designer is more beneficial than hiring an architect when it comes to space planning, 3D planing, material and equipement selection, customized furniture and cabinetry, electrical and lighting plans, project management and much more.

An interior designer is truly trained to think about ergonomics, functionality, technicality, esthetics, and budget.

  • Yes, they should be. Interior designers are either graduate students from CEGEP or university here in the province of Quebec. Both carry 3 year programs in interior design and are equally recognized by the APDIQ (Association professionnelle des designers d’intérieur du Québec).
